Drive Traffic to your Website with QR Codes

You may have seen a strange looking box with a random black and white pattern on a magazine ad, food label or product box and wondered, “What is that?” Well, those funny looking boxes are called QR Codes and they are a new tool to help you reach your intended audience.

QR is short for Quick Response and the codes were first used in the automotive industry to sort and catalogue parts. The QR Codes hold more data than traditional bar codes and are designed to be decoded at high speeds. While the codes have been used in Japan for a while, their use here is recently growing.

By using apps that can be downloaded onto nearly any smartphone… anybody can decode these seemingly random images into usable and relevant data.

You might now be thinking, “Well that’s great, but what’s that have to do with me?” Have you ever wished that you could embed a video in a print ad? A few years ago that might have been a strange statement, but now, a QR Code can link your print advertising to your digital promotions, which can be a powerful tool.

Place a code in your ad that takes the viewer to your website that plays a video targeted and crafted just for them. A product ad can be linked to a video demonstration. You could send people to a favorable review for your product.  Beyond product usage, non-profits, service businesses and schools are using them from everything to directions and event details to scavenger hunts. These are just some of the potential uses for QR Codes, and the list of uses is growing every day.

Webgrain can create a QR Code for you and develop the online experience too. From an idea to the technology behind the delivery- we can help. Sound like a good fit for your business? We’d love to hear from you.
